BioTreatED at the KÁN University Days
The BioTreatED project was also presented at the KÁN University Days, held from 25–27 September 2026 at the Kaposvár Campus of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE).
At the stand of the MATE Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety, we introduced the objectives and research approaches of the BioTreatED project through an interactive demonstration.
Visitors had the opportunity to learn how the project investigates the occurrence of endocrine-disrupting and hormonally active contaminants in agricultural water systems, and how we identify microorganisms and biological processes that could contribute to the degradation and removal of these compounds and support improved water quality.
The interactive demonstration also provided an insight into the microbiological and molecular biological methods used in our research and highlighted how environmental safety, microbiology and sustainable water management are brought together within the BioTreatED project.
The KÁN University Days provided an excellent opportunity to communicate our research in an accessible and interactive way to students, professionals and the wider public, while raising awareness of the connections between water quality, environmental contaminants and sustainable agriculture.
