The BioTreatED project, co-financed by the European Union, has officially been launched

The BioTreatED project has been officially launched! As the first major milestone of the collaboration that began in March 2025, an in-person meeting was held on May 6–7, 2025, at the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences in Gödöllő.

The BioTreatED project is being implemented under the Water4All Horizon Europe initiative, with the aim of developing innovative, bio-based solutions to make irrigation water safer. This international collaboration—bringing together researchers from Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, and Norway—focuses on key agricultural challenges, including:

  • Monitoring hormone-active compounds from fertilizers in soil and groundwater

  • Identifying microorganisms capable of degrading these compounds

  • Developing and validating biological detoxification methods

  • Evaluating efficiency through laboratory and field studies

  • Engaging stakeholders and building valuable partnerships

Together, we are working for a more sustainable and secure water supply!
